The inevitable has happened. I missed my daily deadline. I knew that starting this challenge would have some challenges. It’s just that I didn’t anticipate to fail so fast. But alas! One must move on from setbacks. There are no excuses for missing the target. Just that I need to plan better. Maybe writing the first thing in the morning maybe a good solution?

I need to wake up earlier now. They say mornings are a good time to write. They say that about working out too. They say the same about reading, and of course, meditation. They don’t know what they are saying. I don’t do any of these activities in the morning. Though I appreciate a slow start to the day. No hurrying, no running to catch the AC local or any local for that matter. A nice cup of black coffee and some birds for company. They rise early, those birds, they want the worm after all.
Mornings in Bangalore are nice though. The amazing weather makes it pleasant to wake up and smell the filter coffee. The ease of availability and affordability of filter coffee in Bangalore makes it a big favourite. I wonder why then filter coffee in Mumbai, is so expensive, nearly double the price. Maybe it’s the supply and demand of it.
Mornings are also nice to sit back and watch the sunrise. The play of colours in the eastern sky signals new possibilities and brings in new hope. But then again some of my friends would say that mornings are best to lie in bed and enjoy the last remnants of the night, as she gives into the day and unleashes the madness the day is notorious for.
But for a busy soul, mornings are precious. And therefore, I am going to spend sometime in bed, writing and not wondering about the day. I am glad to have this bluetooth keyboard which allows me to type faster than usual on my phone. Maybe if I get lazy I will just scrawl in my journal and post a picture here. Sure, it is not good for SEO, but that’s alright. The point is to write, being read by audiences like you is a bonus.
Or maybe, I will follow the writing routine of the legendary writer Urusula Le Guin, who would wake up at 530 am and just lie in bed, thinking. Thereafter she would eat a large breakfast and then start writing at 715 am. Oh how lucky she was, she had no trains to catch.
Here’s to not missing another deadline.
