There is so much to do. There is so little time. There is a wealth of information to be gained. There are many courses to be done. There is a long list of books to finish. And then there is a long list of places to visit. There is a playlist and then there are must watch movie lists. Lists to finish before you die. That seems like a long time away. But who knows what’s in store for tomorrow.
The uncertainty of life itself drives you to do many things. And takes away from the present. You save up but an emergency needs takes it away. You save your holidays but a fire breaks out at work. You want to relax but then there are so many experiences waiting to be experienced. There are only 52 weekends and then only one life. And weekends are not enough. You can be mindful about every hour but that hour passes too fast. And then you remember what Seneca said – to be everywhere is to be nowhere. ‘

The things to do keep piling up. Especially at work. They say the ultimate way to deal with anxiety induced by workload is to create a to-do list. A to-do list with finite entries is effective, but a burgeoning one can add to the anxiety and then stop you from taking the first step.
Sometimes I like to sit and create a mega list. I call it the bring it on list, you need a special kind of bravado to attempt it though. The bring it on list has many unpleasant items. The big frogs to swallow as they call it. After that there is nothing more unpleasant remaining.
While work can be managed, life remains a challenge. There is food to be cooked, calls to be returned, friends to be met, messages to be replied and of course, time to be spent doing nothing. But where is the time to do something in the first place. Oh it was around the last time I checked. When was that you say?
