A greater purpose or a lofty mission is often enough to make you go above and beyond. What drives hard work is often that goal. Now that goal may vary. The goals of the organisation may propel and inspire individuals. But more often than not, individuals don’t work harder because of the mission statement on the wall. They work because they have their own purpose for working. Otherwise nobody would work for organisations with generic missions.
Inspiration is momentary. One moment you are inspired to do well and achieve lofty goals but the next moment you give into your habits and make peace with status quo. Unless the drive is internal and we are hungry. Hunger drives the world. Not just the hunger for food but for everything else. Personal glory, professional growth, social acceptance, pride of one’s family, approval of your loved ones. It varies.
A mission on the other hand can guide activities and define strategic priorities. A mission is often that guiding statement which creates movement and progress, establishes a sense of urgency. Do I have a personal mission and vision for myself?
Do you? It should be in our bio. Tinder or Twitter you decide. It maybe interesting to craft that.
