There are so many reasons why one must not quit. One must persist. Wonder why and where these ideas come from. Some endeavours are best quit as early as possible. Some after a while of giving them a fair shot. But quitting shouldn’t not be an option. Why should everything be pursued with the same gusto? Some things ought to be dropped. I often wonder why this isn’t the norm yet.

The literature out there focusses on persistence and resilience. Especially when picking up the hard tasks. The tasks which consume us beyond our capacity to be consumed. But the harsh truth is that one should know when to quit. What do you do once you quit? I don’t know. Some other hard task. One thing for sure is that tasks don’t become easier as you grow. Rewards only increase with the complexity of the tasks you take on. And execute. I wonder why. It’s only fair you may say. And I agree but I don’t necessarily like it.

Anyway, the complexity of the task is not the issue. The issue is wasting time on tasks which don’t provide meaning but give a lot more heartache. These tasks drain you and leave you feeling unhappy. These tasks irrespective of the rewards they provide must be quit. As soon as you can. There is no glory in pursuing them and worst of all, finishing them. Just not worth it.
