The rains in the subcontinent are settling in. Even as flood wreak havoc in Assam, landslides in Uttarakhand and the usual chaos in Mumbai – rains have not lost their charm. Rains still evoke the same nostalgia and you are forced to face the reality as you try and run through a sudden downpour.
Auto rides are the trickiest when the rains are accompanied by strong winds. Likewise for window seats in the rain in case the doors are locked. You can’t even take the ac train because it’s just too damn cold. And forget getting to office drenched. Sometimes I feel corporate offices try to be so consistent all the time that they ignore the changes outside. They remain agnostic to the seasons.
It’s not uncommon to see people get to work, rain or shine. Remote workers have it good one thinks. They don’t need to leave the house at all. But do remote workers crave that cool ac environment with ergonomic chairs? I really doubt that. Life would have been simpler if all of us could work out places comfortable to us. Perhaps a cottage in the hills? Or one by the beach. I’d go where there was silence. No loud music or people. Just the sound of rain crashing on my roof.
