These lyrics haunt me everyday. They are such a potent reminder of the choices we make everyday. When we trade our time and agency for a few bucks more. Why do we do it? Why do we not say no? Why don’t we simply let it go and breathe, for that’s all we need.
Saying no has been one of my biggest weaknesses. This is why I have difficulty in maintaining a clean calendar. It’s always so full with appointments and commitments. Isn’t it the opposite of what Naval said?
Of course, to be able to practice what Naval says takes guts. And in bits and pieces I have tried to implement some of his ideas. But yet there’s a long way to go. There is no ideal point though. There is nothing ideal about anything. It is all here and now. So maybe I should start practicing it from now. Today, this moment.
